It is with mixed emotions that Breen Law Professional Corporation announces the pending retirement of it’s founder, Christopher C. Breen. After almost 5 decades of devotion to the legal profession, the firm he built from the ground up, and the Burlington and Waterdown communities, Mr. Breen has expressed his desire to officially retire from the law firm that bares his name at the end of the 2018 calendar year.

Mr. Breen’s knowledgeable and even-keeled approach to dealing with clients, staff, and other lawyers has contributed to his reputation as being a reliable and well-known legal resource in the Golden Horseshoe. While his staff and associates are sad at the prospect of losing daily contact with a boss, leader, and friend, everyone at the firm is excited for Mr. Breen to move into the next stage of his life.

“In February of 2017, we were happy to welcome Mr. Ryan Carson to join in our operations” said Mr. Breen, who first opened his law firm in 1973. “For almost 2 years I have worked with Ryan and have been able to observe the care and consideration that he takes with each and every client that comes through the door. This has given me the confidence to step away from dealing with an increasing share of the daily tasks required to run a business”.

Mr. Breen has expressed some trepidation about the decision to leave a profession that hasn’t just been a career, but an identity. “I have met so many great people over the years, from newlyweds to first-time home buyers, from young families to three generations of off-spring. While I will miss the interactions and the opportunity to help people, I know that the firm will be in good-hands with Ryan at the helm, and it is time for me to plan for the future.”

Even though Mr. Breen has outlined his plans to retire, the firm is proud to make clear it’s intentions to honour his legacy by retaining the Breen name. When asked, Ryan Carson cited history and respect as two main reasons for maintaining the brand. As Mr. Carson said, “45 years of success in any career is a tremendous achievement, and one that I admire greatly. Even though I have been practicing law for a decade, I still consider myself a young lawyer, and hope that I can gain the same name-recognition that Breen Law has developed over the years.”

Once details of Mr. Breen’s retirement have been finalized, we will be happy to share additional information along with ways that people can send and share messages of congratulations.
